What has to travel with it
Iraq requires a Certificate of Conformity under the ICIGI programme run by COSQC, issued before shipment by an appointed body such as Intertek, Applus+, TÜV Rheinland or Baltic Control. Construction materials fall inside the product list updated in June 2025, so allow time for pre-shipment inspection — goods arriving without a valid certificate are delayed, penalised or turned back. Iraq is a GAFTA member and an Arab preference certificate of origin should reduce duty on qualifying goods, though preference is applied unevenly in practice, so budget on the standard rate until your broker confirms otherwise.

04 — Questions
Buying from Egypt, into Iraq
Who handles the Certificate of Conformity?
The Certificate of Conformity must be issued before shipment. We work with the inspection body you or your broker appoint and give them access to the goods in Alexandria.
Sea or overland — which is faster?
Sea to Umm Qasr is usually simpler. Overland through Aqaba can be quicker to the north but adds handling.
How long should we allow overall?
Two to three weeks on the water, plus inspection and certification time before loading. We give you a date once the specification is fixed.
Quoting for Iraq?
Send the stone, the finish, the thickness, the quantity and the destination port. You get FOB and CIF prices and a lead time, usually within one working day.
