New Halayeb is the boldest of the Egyptian light greys. The ground is grey-white, close to the Aswan greys in tone, but the dark minerals are larger and more densely packed, so the face carries real contrast rather than an even speckle: medium to coarse in the crystal, and legible from across a square rather than reading as a single flat tone. That is what it is for. On a large paved area it gives texture where a fine grey goes flat, and it keeps that character after flaming. A photograph of a polished slab overstates it — flamed and tumbled, the finish it usually goes out in, the face reads lighter and softer than the polished sample. It is produced as setts and cobbles, kerbs and steps as well as slabs, tiles and cut-to-size, so paving, edging and stairs can come from the same stone. Availability is medium: take the quantity for a whole scheme in one order rather than assembling it from separate deliveries.
Grey El Sherka and the Aswan greys are the quiet end of the same family — cooler, finer, more even, chosen when a surface has to read as one tone. New Halayeb is the opposite choice: the same grey-white ground with a bolder, denser black crystal. Halayeb, from the same district, shares the name and is a warm brown, not a grey.

How New Halayeb is supplied
Blocks
Quarry blocks selected and squared. Typical 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.5 × 1.5 m, 18 – 30 tonnes. Sold by m³, loaded on flat rack or in-container with steel cradles.
Gangsaw slabs
Full-size slabs from the gangsaw. Marble typically 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.6 – 1.9 m in 2 cm and 3 cm; granite 2 cm and 3 cm. Bundled by block so vein sequence is preserved.
Tiles
Calibrated tiles in 30×30, 30×60, 40×40, 60×60, 60×120 cm and free length, 1.0 – 3.0 cm. Edges straight-cut or bevelled, back-mesh on request.
Cut-to-size

Which finish for external paving?
Flamed and tumbled. The flame gives a non-slip face, tumbling rounds the arrises, and on this stone the pair also lightens and softens the surface against the polished slab. Bush-hammered and sandblasted are produced as well, for ramps and heavy traffic.
How does it differ from Grey El Sherka?
Same grey-white ground, different crystal. Grey El Sherka is fine to medium and evenly speckled, so it reads as one tone; New Halayeb carries larger, denser black crystals and more contrast across the face. Put the two side by side at the size you will actually lay before you choose.
Can setts, kerbs and steps come from the same stone?
Yes. Setts and cobbles, kerbs, channels and edging, and steps with matched risers are all produced in it, so an external scheme can run edge to edge in one material.
How much does it vary between deliveries?
Natural granite varies block to block, and a coarse crystal shows that variation more than a fine one does. Shade and figure fall within the range of the approved samples; for a single large area, take the whole quantity from one delivery.
