Finishes & formats
The same block becomes a different material depending on how the surface is worked and how the stone is cut. Everything below is produced in our own factory — nothing is subcontracted.
01 — Surface finishes
Nine treatments
Not every finish suits every stone. Flaming needs the thermal tolerance of granite; tumbling suits softer marbles; leathering is at its best on dark, dense material. Each stone page lists the finishes we will actually produce in it.
The surfaces above are rendered previews, not photographs of stock. Ask for a physical A4 sample before you commit a finish to a specification — texture is a thing you have to hold.
02 — Formats
How the stone leaves the factory
Blocks
Quarry blocks selected and squared. Typical 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.5 × 1.5 m, 18 – 30 tonnes. Sold by m³, loaded on flat rack or in-container with steel cradles.
Gangsaw slabs
Full-size slabs from the gangsaw. Marble typically 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.6 – 1.9 m in 2 cm and 3 cm; granite 2 cm and 3 cm. Bundled by block so vein sequence is preserved.
Tiles
Calibrated tiles in 30×30, 30×60, 40×40, 60×60, 60×120 cm and free length, 1.0 – 2.0 cm. Edges straight-cut or bevelled, back-mesh on request.
Cut-to-size
Worked to your drawings — worktops, vanity tops, cladding panels, mitres, cut-outs, drainage grooves, undermount polishing. Supplied piece-marked to a setting-out plan.
Steps and risers
Treads with bullnose, half-bullnose or eased edge, anti-slip grooving on request, matched risers and stringers.
Window sills and thresholds
Sills, copings and thresholds with drip groove, polished ends and mitred returns.
Kerbs and landscape
Granite kerbs, channels, edging and setts to European and Gulf highway profiles.
Cobbles and setts
Split or sawn granite cubes, 10×10, 10×20 cm, loose or mesh-mounted on fans.
Mosaic
Mesh-mounted mosaic in square, hexagon, basketweave and herringbone, polished, honed or tumbled.
03 — Tolerances
What we hold to
Thickness
Calibrated tiles ± 0.5 mm. Gangsaw slabs ± 2 mm on nominal 20 and 30 mm. Cut-to-size to drawing, ± 1 mm.
Squareness & flatness
Tiles squared to ± 0.5 mm on the diagonal; flatness within 0.2 % of the longest edge.
Colour matching
Slabs are bundled and numbered by block so vein sequence is preserved. Tile orders are cut from a single batch wherever the quantity allows.
Tolerances are our standard production values. Tighter requirements are possible on cut-to-size — tell us at quotation stage, not after cutting has started.
Not sure which finish you want?
Send us the application — floor, facade, worktop, wet room — and we will tell you what we would put there, and send samples of the two or three that make sense.
