Grey Aswan is the granite specified when the stone is not meant to be the story: an even mid grey speckled black and white, with no dominant crystal and no direction it has to be laid in. That neutrality is what makes it a landscape material rather than a feature one. It also arrives as a complete kit. Paving slabs and tiles, kerbs, cobbles and setts, steps, cladding and cut-to-size all come off the same Aswan beds, so a public realm scheme does not have to change stone at the kerb line. Flamed and bush-hammered are the standard external faces and are produced in our own works, with sandblasted where a finer matt is wanted. Availability is very high, which on a phased scheme matters more than anything about the stone itself: the second and third packages come off the same beds instead of a substitute. Worktops are not on its list.
White Aswan is the same district at a much lighter value, and it is the one that carries kitchen tops; it is also only medium availability where Grey Aswan is very high. If the scheme is large, phased or mostly horizontal, that difference decides it.

How Grey Aswan is supplied
Blocks
Quarry blocks selected and squared. Typical 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.5 × 1.5 m, 18 – 30 tonnes. Sold by m³, loaded on flat rack or in-container with steel cradles.
Gangsaw slabs
Full-size slabs from the gangsaw. Marble typically 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.6 – 1.9 m in 2 cm and 3 cm; granite 2 cm and 3 cm. Bundled by block so vein sequence is preserved.
Tiles
Calibrated tiles in 30×30, 30×60, 40×40, 60×60, 60×120 cm and free length, 1.0 – 3.0 cm. Edges straight-cut or bevelled, back-mesh on request.
Cut-to-size
Worked to your drawings — worktops, vanity tops, cladding panels, mitres, cut-outs, drainage grooves, undermount polishing. Supplied piece-marked to a setting-out plan. How a cut-to-size order runs

Grey Aswan — questions buyers ask
Which finish for external paving?
Flamed or bush-hammered where there is traffic; sandblasted gives an even matt without the coarseness. All three are produced in-house.
Can we get the kerbs, setts and paving all in the same stone?
Yes — kerbs, cobbles and setts, steps, tiles, slabs and cut-to-size are all produced in Grey Aswan. Most of this range stops at kerbs, and it is the setts that usually force a material change elsewhere.
Is it a worktop stone?
Not on its list, and leathered is not produced in it. For an Egyptian granite worktop at a light value, White Aswan is the one that carries kitchen tops.
We are building in phases over two or three years — will it still be there?
Availability is very high, which is the main argument for this stone over a more interesting grey. Fix the finish and the format on the first package so the later phases repeat it rather than re-specify.
