What has to travel with it

A certificate of origin has been required on every import into Kenya since 2025, and it travels with the commercial invoice, the packing list and the bill of lading. Kenya and Egypt are both COMESA members, so COMESA preference may apply to Egyptian-origin stone shipped with a valid COMESA certificate of origin: confirm the rate with your customs broker before we load. According to KEBS, goods of African origin do not need pre-export verification of conformity (PVoC). Timber packaging is heat treated and marked to ISPM 15.

03 — What sells here

Stone that suits Kenya

Kenya buys its marble and granite worked rather than in block, and 2024 trade data puts Egypt among the leading suppliers of worked marble and granite into the country. Polished granite goes into floors, stairs and kitchen tops, beige and golden marble into lobbies and bathrooms. Big 5 Construct Kenya, 21 – 23 October 2026, is where much of the building-materials trade meets.
