Sunny Oro — marble slab
Polished slab

Drag the slab to turn it, or use the arrow keys. Switching finish re-renders the surface — polished throws a hard specular, the abraded finishes open the surface up and knock the colour back.

Oro is what the Minya bed gives when the iron runs highest: a saturated gold, well past Sunny Menia, with the banding of the Sunny family still legible through the colour. It is the grade buyers ask for by name, and it is specified where a floor is meant to be noticed — a lobby, a stair, a reception front — rather than to sit quietly under the furniture. Supply is the trade-off. Availability is medium and by selected block, because the deep-gold material is picked out of the face rather than run continuously, so quantity and tone get agreed together. Formats are blocks, slabs, tiles, cut-to-size and steps; finishes polished, honed, brushed and antique. Facades are not on its application list. Oro is put forward for interiors, and the same colour at a lighter value is the one that goes outside.

Sunny Medium sits exactly between the light and dark grades and is the one to specify when a scheme already has Sunny in it and needs a close second tone. Oro is not that stone — it is the saturated end of the family and will not read as a match to anything else in it.

Photographs

Sunny Oro in the yard

Photographs of our own blocks, slabs and finished work. Slab photography shows one slab — the block it came from is what you are quoted against.

Laid out

Sunny Oro across a floor

A photograph shows one slab on a stand. This shows the stone tile after tile — where the pattern repeats, how far the tone drifts across a batch, and what the joint does to it. Every tile here is cut from a different part of the surface, the way material comes out of a real crate.

Sunny Oro tile — Egyptian marble

Indicative layout. Tone drift is deliberate — no two tiles from one batch match exactly, and a laid floor should never look like one photograph repeated.

In the room

Sunny Oro against your wall colour

Nobody buys stone on a white background. Put Sunny Oro on the floor, up the wall or across a worktop, set the colour it will actually sit against, and change the light — the same three questions every client asks on a site visit, answered before the sample ships.

A scene, not a render of your project: proportions are indicative and colour on a screen is never the colour in a room. Send us the drawings and we will lay the real slab sizes out against your setting-out.

The slab above turns; this is the same stone at the size it sits in your hand. Change the finish and it re-cuts.

Formats

How Sunny Oro is supplied

Blocks

Quarry blocks selected and squared. Typical 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.5 × 1.5 m, 18 – 30 tonnes. Sold by m³, loaded on flat rack or in-container with steel cradles.

Gangsaw slabs

Full-size slabs from the gangsaw. Marble typically 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.6 – 1.9 m in 2 cm and 3 cm; granite 2 cm and 3 cm. Bundled by block so vein sequence is preserved.

Steps and risers

Treads with bullnose, half-bullnose or eased edge, anti-slip grooving on request, matched risers and stringers.

Asked about this stone

Sunny Oro — questions buyers ask

How does Oro differ from Sunny Dark?

They are different material, not just a shade apart. Sunny Dark comes off the lower horizons of the same Minya bed as a full amber with pronounced banding and a russet edge to the veins; Oro is the high-iron gold. Sunny Dark is also the more available of the two.

Will a repeat order match?

Not dependably. Oro comes off selected blocks rather than continuous production, so the depth of the gold moves with the block. Take the full quantity in one order, and if the programme has to be phased, look at Sunny Oro Light, which runs at high availability.

Which finish for a lobby floor?

Polished if the floor is meant to be seen — it deepens the gold and brings the banding up. Honed if the lobby takes wet feet, since it is matt, less slippery when wet and much more forgiving of scratching.

Can it go on a facade?

Facades are not on Oro's application list, and the finishes stop at antique with no abraded external face. For external work in the same gold, Sunny Oro Light does list facades; for a denser stone finished sandblasted and bush-hammered, Golden Sinai.
