Ice Quartz — semi precious slab
Polished slab

Drag the slab to turn it, or use the arrow keys. Switching finish re-renders the surface — polished throws a hard specular, the abraded finishes open the surface up and knock the colour back.

Ice Quartz is broken clear quartz set in a pale binder, so a panel reads as fractured ice rather than as a stone with a grain. It is the most transparent material we can offer and the one that changes most between lit and unlit, which makes the lighting detail part of the specification rather than something settled afterwards. It is also the only one of the crystal quartz materials here that we list for table tops, alongside backlit panels, feature walls, bar fronts and lighting. Sold as Clear Quartz too, and not to be confused with the engineered white quartz on our quartz pages, which is a pressed slab of aggregate and resin. This comes in as imported block through our supply partnership, made up from cut sections and backed with fibreglass mesh and resin, so panel sizes vary by material rather than arriving at a fixed sheet size. Polished or honed.

Ice White Onyx is the other near-white material bought for light, and the two get confused by name. Ice White is banded onyx that glows almost evenly and passes for a quiet white marble unlit; Ice Quartz shows every break and looks like a different material lit and unlit.

Photographs

Ice Quartz in the yard

Photographs of our own blocks, slabs and finished work. Slab photography shows one slab — the block it came from is what you are quoted against.

Laid out

Ice Quartz across a floor

A photograph shows one slab on a stand. This shows the stone tile after tile — where the pattern repeats, how far the tone drifts across a batch, and what the joint does to it. Every tile here is cut from a different part of the surface, the way material comes out of a real crate.

Ice Quartz tile — semi-precious stone

Indicative layout. Tone drift is deliberate — no two tiles from one batch match exactly, and a laid floor should never look like one photograph repeated.

In the room

Ice Quartz against your wall colour

Nobody buys stone on a white background. Put Ice Quartz on the floor, up the wall or across a worktop, set the colour it will actually sit against, and change the light — the same three questions every client asks on a site visit, answered before the sample ships.

Ice Quartz, close up

The slab above turns; this is the same stone at the size it sits in your hand. Change the finish and it re-cuts.

How Ice Quartz is supplied

Gangsaw slabs

Full-size slabs from the gangsaw. Marble typically 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.6 – 1.9 m in 2 cm and 3 cm; granite 2 cm and 3 cm. Bundled by block so vein sequence is preserved.

Cut-to-size

Worked to your drawings — worktops, vanity tops, cladding panels, mitres, cut-outs, drainage grooves, undermount polishing. Supplied piece-marked to a setting-out plan. How a cut-to-size order runs

Asked about this stone

Ice Quartz — questions buyers ask

What does it look like unlit?

Much quieter than the lit photographs suggest. It is the most transparent material in the range and the one that changes most between lit and unlit: fractured ice with light behind it, a pale near-white broken surface without.

What sits behind a backlit panel?

Slabs are made up from cut sections and backed with fibreglass mesh and resin as standard. On the most transparent material we handle, that backing and the light source behind it are part of what the viewer sees, so send us the build-up detail before you order.

Can it take a table top?

Yes — it is the only one of the crystal quartz materials, against Amethyst, Rose Quartz and Yellow Quartz, that we list for table tops. Floors and external work are excluded for the whole semi-precious group.

Is Clear Quartz the same material?

Yes, the same stone under its other trade name. Neither name refers to the engineered white quartz slabs on our quartz pages.
