Drag the slab to turn it, or use the arrow keys. Switching finish re-renders the surface — polished throws a hard specular, the abraded finishes open the surface up and knock the colour back.
Hoody Dark is the deeper selection from the same Eastern Desert beds as Hoody Light. The feldspar runs red-brown instead of rose and the dark mineral load is much heavier, and it is a paving stone before it is anything else. The format list says so — kerbs and cobbles as well as blocks, slabs, tiles and steps — and the heavy speckle is what makes it work outside: tyre marking, dust and the shadow line between units break up in the pattern instead of sitting on top of it. Physically nothing changes between the two grades. Same quarry, same hardness, same weathering. What changes is where the eye settles: Hoody Light lifts a floor, Hoody Dark holds a scheme down. If a job carries both, the obvious division is the dark underfoot and the light on the walls above. It is also leathered, which the light grade is not.
Halayeb is the other warm brown we ship for external work — plainer, browner, with a big legible crystal. Hoody Dark carries the red of the Hoody beds and a heavier dark speckle, and if Hoody Light is already specified on the job it is the one to use underfoot, because the two grades come out of the same quarry.

Photographs
Hoody Dark in the yard
Photographs of our own blocks, slabs and finished work. Slab photography shows one slab — the block it came from is what you are quoted against.
Laid out
Hoody Dark across a floor
A photograph shows one slab on a stand. This shows the stone tile after tile — where the pattern repeats, how far the tone drifts across a batch, and what the joint does to it. Every tile here is cut from a different part of the surface, the way material comes out of a real crate.
Indicative layout. Tone drift is deliberate — no two tiles from one batch match exactly, and a laid floor should never look like one photograph repeated.
In the room
Hoody Dark against your wall colour
Nobody buys stone on a white background. Put Hoody Dark on the floor, up the wall or across a worktop, set the colour it will actually sit against, and change the light — the same three questions every client asks on a site visit, answered before the sample ships.
A scene, not a render of your project: proportions are indicative and colour on a screen is never the colour in a room. Send us the drawings and we will lay the real slab sizes out against your setting-out.
Surface
Hoody Dark, close up
The slab above turns; this is the same stone at the size it sits in your hand. Change the finish and it re-cuts.
Roughly a 130 mm span of Hoody Dark, polished. A rendered preview, not a photograph of stock — ask for a physical sample before you specify.

Formats
How Hoody Dark is supplied
Blocks
Quarry blocks selected and squared. Typical 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.5 × 1.5 m, 18 – 30 tonnes. Sold by m³, loaded on flat rack or in-container with steel cradles.
Gangsaw slabs
Full-size slabs from the gangsaw. Marble typically 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.6 – 1.9 m in 2 cm and 3 cm; granite 2 cm and 3 cm. Bundled by block so vein sequence is preserved.

Asked about this stone
Hoody Dark — questions buyers ask
Can I get kerbs and cobbles as well as paving?
Yes — kerbs and cobbles are both standard formats for Hoody Dark, so a landscape scheme can take the paving, the kerb line and the setts from one stone. Hoody Light is not cut as cobbles.
Which finish for external paving?
Flamed is the usual choice, with bush-hammered and sandblasted as the other two external finishes we produce in-house. Flaming opens the surface and takes some of the red out of the ground, so specify from a flamed sample rather than a polished one.
Is it a sensible worktop stone?
Kitchen tops are on its list, and it is one of the grades we leather — worth doing here, because a polished red-brown with speckle this heavy shows water marks and fingerprints that a leathered surface hides.
How much does it vary block to block?
The weight of the dark speckle is what moves, which matters far more across a large paved area than on a single worktop. Order the whole quantity at once and ask for it to be cut from one run.
