White Safaga — granite slab
Polished slab

Drag the slab to turn it, or use the arrow keys. Switching finish re-renders the surface — polished throws a hard specular, the abraded finishes open the surface up and knock the colour back.

White Safaga is quarried in the hills behind Safaga on the Red Sea coast, and it is the evenest of the Egyptian pale granites: a fine, tight crystal that resolves at a distance into something close to a single tone. That is a paving property more than a facade property. Across a large external area — a forecourt, a plaza, a long run of steps and kerbs — visible variation between units gets read as a defect rather than as character, and this is the Egyptian white least likely to be read that way. The format list follows the same logic. It is the only one of the three Egyptian whites cut as cobbles, alongside kerbs, steps, tiles and cut-to-size, so a whole external scheme can run in one material. Note that kitchen tops are not among its listed uses. Availability is medium, so fix the quantity for a scheme of any size in one order.

Its own record sets it against Bianco Halayeb, and the difference is grain: Halayeb's fleck is coarser and livelier, White Safaga's finer and flatter. That decides where each belongs — Bianco Halayeb has more to look at on a cladding panel at close range, White Safaga holds together better across a hundred square metres of paving.

Photographs

White Safaga in the yard

Photographs of our own blocks, slabs and finished work. Slab photography shows one slab — the block it came from is what you are quoted against.

Laid out

White Safaga across a floor

A photograph shows one slab on a stand. This shows the stone tile after tile — where the pattern repeats, how far the tone drifts across a batch, and what the joint does to it. Every tile here is cut from a different part of the surface, the way material comes out of a real crate.

White Safaga tile — Egyptian granite

Indicative layout. Tone drift is deliberate — no two tiles from one batch match exactly, and a laid floor should never look like one photograph repeated.

In the room

White Safaga against your wall colour

Nobody buys stone on a white background. Put White Safaga on the floor, up the wall or across a worktop, set the colour it will actually sit against, and change the light — the same three questions every client asks on a site visit, answered before the sample ships.

White Safaga, close up

The slab above turns; this is the same stone at the size it sits in your hand. Change the finish and it re-cuts.

Formats

How White Safaga is supplied

Blocks

Quarry blocks selected and squared. Typical 2.6 – 3.0 × 1.5 × 1.5 m, 18 – 30 tonnes. Sold by m³, loaded on flat rack or in-container with steel cradles.

Gangsaw slabs

Asked about this stone

White Safaga — questions buyers ask

Will it match across a large paved area?

That is what it is selected for — the crystal is fine and even enough that a laid area reads close to one tone. It will still drift, as any granite does between blocks, so order the whole area in one lot and lay from mixed crates rather than crate by crate.

Which finish for the paving itself?

Flamed, bush-hammered or sandblasted, all three cut in this stone. On a ground this pale the abraded finishes flatten the surface rather than darkening it, which suits the uniform read the stone is chosen for.

Can kerbs, steps and setts come from the same stone as the paving?

Yes. White Safaga is cut as kerbs, cobbles and steps as well as tiles and cut-to-size, and it is the only one of the three Egyptian whites cut as cobbles, so an external scheme can run edge to edge in one material.

Is it suitable for kitchen worktops?

Kitchen tops are not among its listed uses — it is specified for paving, kerbs, landscaping, steps, stairs and cladding. For a pale granite worktop, Bianco Halayeb and White Aswan are the two in this range that carry that use.
