Ice White is the onyx to specify when the lighting matters more than the figure. The banding is broad and very low in contrast, so backlit it comes up almost evenly, a lit surface rather than a pattern, and that evenness is why it gets chosen for light boxes and lit joinery. Unlit it drops right back and passes for a quiet white marble, which is worth checking if the panel sits in a daylit lobby and only comes on in the evening; for half the day you are looking at the marble. Onyx transmits at roughly 15 to 20 mm, so panel thickness belongs to the lighting decision and not only to the fixing. A pale, even stone is also the least forgiving of an uneven source: hot spots and lamp spacing read through Ice White in a way they do not through the darker onyxes. Polished or honed, in slabs and cut-to-size.
Ice Quartz is the other near-white translucent option and a different material altogether: broken clear quartz set in a pale binder, the most transparent thing in the range, and the one that changes most between lit and unlit. Ice White Onyx is banded natural stone — calmer when it is lit, and close to a plain white marble when it is not.

Ice White Onyx — questions buyers ask
What does it look like with the lighting off?
A quiet white marble with soft, low-contrast banding. If the panel is only lit in the evening, approve the unlit face as well — that is what the room sees for the rest of the day.
Does the light box detail matter more with this one?
Yes. It is the palest and most translucent of the onyxes, so uneven output, lamp spacing and anything sitting behind the panel show through where a darker stone would hide them. Onyx transmits at roughly 15–20 mm, so send the panel sizes and the backing detail with the enquiry.
Is it suitable for a vanity top?
It is a listed use, but onyx is calcite at Mohs 3–4 and it etches: cleaners, cosmetics and citrus leave dull marks, and on a polished near-white top they are obvious. Specify honed, and keep it out of acidic wet areas.
Do you supply it as floor tiles?
No. Formats are slabs and cut-to-size only, and onyx is not a flooring or external material in any case.
