Champagne Onyx — semi precious slab
Polished slab

Drag the slab to turn it, or use the arrow keys. Switching finish re-renders the surface — polished throws a hard specular, the abraded finishes open the surface up and knock the colour back.

Champagne sits between the two ends of the onyx range: paler and cooler than Miele's honey, warmer than the near-white of Ice White. It is a pale gold with a faint pink cast, a cast rather than a colour, and that is the detail to check on site, because against warm timber it disappears and against a cool grey it reads clearly. The banding is soft and low in contrast, and it backlights gently rather than dramatically: the panel lifts and warms, it does not become a lantern. That makes it the easier onyx to run over a large area without it competing with the joinery, and the harder one to sell to a client who wants the lighting to be obvious. Listed for backlit panels, feature walls, vanity tops, reception desks and bar fronts, polished or honed, and bought in as imported block through the partner supply.

Ice White is the palest and most translucent of the onyxes and the one to take when the panel has to read white and the lighting is doing the work; it also shows an uneven source more readily. Champagne carries the pink-gold cast, backlights more softly, and is the more forgiving of the two across a large wall.

Photographs

Champagne Onyx in the yard

Photographs of our own blocks, slabs and finished work. Slab photography shows one slab — the block it came from is what you are quoted against.

Laid out

Champagne Onyx across a floor

A photograph shows one slab on a stand. This shows the stone tile after tile — where the pattern repeats, how far the tone drifts across a batch, and what the joint does to it. Every tile here is cut from a different part of the surface, the way material comes out of a real crate.

Champagne Onyx tile — semi-precious stone

Indicative layout. Tone drift is deliberate — no two tiles from one batch match exactly, and a laid floor should never look like one photograph repeated.

In the room

Champagne Onyx against your wall colour

Nobody buys stone on a white background. Put Champagne Onyx on the floor, up the wall or across a worktop, set the colour it will actually sit against, and change the light — the same three questions every client asks on a site visit, answered before the sample ships.

The slab above turns; this is the same stone at the size it sits in your hand. Change the finish and it re-cuts.

Asked about this stone

Champagne Onyx — questions buyers ask

How strong is the pink cast?

Faint, and it is a cast rather than a colour. It shows most against cool greys and cool white light and more or less disappears next to warm timber, so judge it against the actual finishes rather than on its own.

Is it bright enough backlit for a feature wall?

It lifts and warms rather than glowing hard. If the brief wants the panel to read obviously as a light source, Onyx Miele or Brown Onyx do more of that; Champagne is for an even, quiet wash across a wide area.

Can it run next to Ice White Onyx?

They are close enough in tone that a butt joint between them reads as an inconsistency rather than a contrast. If you want both, keep them on separate planes — one on the wall, one on the vanity.

How consistent is it from slab to slab?

The banding is consistent in character, but the balance of gold to pink shifts from block to block, and a cast varies more visibly than a strong colour does. Select the whole run at once from one set of slab photographs.
