What has to travel with it
Egyptian-origin stone enters the EU free of customs duty under the EU–Egypt Association Agreement, with an EUR.1 or EUR-MED certificate of origin issued by Egyptian customs; import VAT in Sweden is 25%, paid by the importer. Stone sold for construction in the EU comes under the Construction Products Regulation: the importer who places it on the EU market draws up the Declaration of Performance under the harmonised standards — EN 12057 for modular tiles, EN 12058 for floor and stair slabs, EN 1469 for cladding, EN 1341, EN 1342 and EN 1343 for paving, setts and kerbs — and we arrange and supply the test results for the chosen stone. Tell us at quotation stage what your specification requires. For the stone you select we arrange water absorption, flexural strength and abrasion tests at an accredited laboratory.
03 — What sells here
Stone that suits Sweden
Sweden quarries its own granite and imports its finished stone mainly from Italy, Denmark, China, Türkiye and Portugal; Egypt is barely present today (Eurostat 2025). The Swedish stone trade grew in 2025 on infrastructure, outdoor works and restoration, and the industry reports long lead times on popular interior stones. The opening for Egyptian stone is indoors: beige marble and limestone tiles and slabs — Galala, Sunny Menia, Silvia Menia, Milly Gray — for floors, walls and stairs, with Egyptian granite as a second source for paving, steps and kerbs. Outdoor paving runs from spring to autumn; interior and restoration work continues through the winter.

04 — Questions
Buying from Egypt, into Sweden
Is there import duty on Egyptian stone in Sweden?
No customs duty on Egyptian-origin stone under the EU–Egypt Association Agreement, with an EUR.1 or EUR-MED certificate; import VAT is 25%. Confirm the treatment with your customs broker before we load.
Which Swedish ports do you ship to?
Gothenburg, Scandinavia's largest container port with rail connections across the country, or Helsingborg; Stockholm Norvik where that suits the project. No carrier publishes a direct Alexandria – Gothenburg sailing, so the routing and the transit time are confirmed when the container is booked.
Which stones can go outside?
Granite is the safe choice for frost-exposed paving and steps. For any limestone or marble you want outside, we arrange frost and water-absorption tests on the stone you select first.
Who draws up the Declaration of Performance?
The importer who places the stone on the EU market, under the harmonised standard for the use — EN 12057 and EN 12058 indoors, EN 1341, EN 1342 and EN 1343 for paving, setts and kerbs. We arrange and supply the laboratory test results for the stone you select.
What is the smallest order?
One 20 ft container. Several stones, thicknesses and finishes can share it.
