Germany is a technical market. Beige marble goes into hotel and commercial interiors, granite into external paving and facade cladding, and the questions come early and in detail. Buyers who get straight answers about what a stone will and will not do tend to stay.

The eight steps

Choose the stone

Send the name your market knows the stone by, or a photograph, and we match it to the blocks we can supply. Every stone has its own page with its colour, origin, finishes and formats.

Egyptian marble · Egyptian granite · cut-to-size · floor tiles

Send what the quotation needs

The stone, the finish, the thickness and quantity of each item and your port — or the bill of quantities or the drawing as it is. The full checklist

Pay in three stages

50 % in advance, on order; 30 % after your approval of the finished production; 20 % before shipping.

Approve the stone before it ships

Photographs of your actual slabs or bundles, or an inspection at the factory, before the 30 % is paid and before anything is loaded.

Documents, duty and clearance in Germany

With every container: the commercial invoice, the packing list and the bill of lading, and a certificate of origin. Customs clearance at your end is yours or your broker's.

Finished stone sold for construction in the EU comes under the Construction Products Regulation: the importer who places it on the market draws up the Declaration of Performance under the harmonised standards, and we arrange and supply the test results for the chosen stone. German specifiers generally want more than the minimum: slip resistance classification for floors, frost resistance to EN 12371 for anything external, and flexural strength on the actual stone rather than a family range. For the stone you select we arrange water absorption, flexural strength and abrasion tests at an accredited laboratory.

Egyptian-origin stone enters the EU free of customs duty under the EU–Egypt Association Agreement, with an EUR.1 or EUR-MED certificate of origin issued by Egyptian customs. Import VAT is charged at the German rate.

Importing to Germany: questions

How is slip resistance handled?

On the finish you intend to use. Slip resistance is a property of the surface treatment, not the stone, so tell us whether it is honed, brushed, flamed or bush-hammered, and the classification your project has to reach.

Can the stone be tested for a specification?

Family ranges are published on every stone page so you can size a design early. For the stone you select we arrange water absorption, flexural strength and abrasion tests at an accredited laboratory.

Can you hold colour across a phased project?

For the high-volume beiges, yes — block production is deep enough to match deliveries over a year or more.

Minimum order, payment, samples, tests and where the blocks come from are answered once for every country in the step-by-step guide.
